LZ3MW Developmental activities

                                    Developmental Activities

In LZ3, we take part in Play Based Learning on Thursday mornings. During this time the children have the opportunity to choose/ explore and have fun using the many classroom resources and activities. We have a focus to learn by working with others, sharing the equipment and to use our DFS Values to cooperate with our peers.

Here are some pictures of the fun choices and positive outcomes working together to complete a task/ take part in a new learning experience.

WALHT: design the tallest marble run- To make the marble work their way through the maze to the bottom. The challenge was working out how to hold the structure up to let the marbles run down.

All the boys had a turn to send the marbles down the different starting holes, trying to see which was the longest/ best way to let the marble go.

These boys had to use the instructions and diagrams to learn how to set up the Tumbling Monkey's game. The game was new to all of them, they worked together and used all the pieces in the box to begin the game.
WALHT: Read the instructions and follow them to firstly set up the tower. They enjoyed the challenge of having to pull out a stick and not let the monkeys fall through to the bottom.

Lego- Plan, design and make a picture on your Lego board using different Lego pieces, sizes and colours. The children had a time limit to create their Lego masterpiece, working on their own creation to discuss with others at the end.

Colour in pictures of Maori Koru patterns and designs. We are focusing to use different colours and to show a symmetrical pattern.

Stencils are on the colour in table- to create their own designs and pictures around the koru pattern pictures.
